BIOGRAPHY

Master Roshi is the younger brother of Fortune Teller Baba and a student of the great master Mutaito. He is also the only person who was ever able to ascend the Korin tower and be trained by Korin. He continued in the way of martial arts until the death of his master at the hands of the evil King Piccolo. Master Mutaito, Roshi, and fellow student, Shen, all fought against the tyrant king. While all three couldn’t take Piccolo down, Master Mutaito was able to execute the fatal Evil Containment Wave. The move took Mutaito’s life, but the job was done, and Piccolo was sealed within a rice cooker. Master Roshi and Shen threw the rice cooker in the ocean in the hopes of never seeing Piccolo again.
Since then, Roshi lived a sedentary life until he met Goku, and after witnessing the lad perform a Kamehameha, he decided to take him on as a student. Master Roshi also took Krillin as a student and whipped both men into some of the finest martial artists in the universe. He took part in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, where he disguised himself as a contestant called ‘Jackie Chun.’ In this form, he fought Krillin and barely won before repeating the feat in the finals against Goku, who he only managed to win due to his longer limbs and extra stamina.
Master Roshi would meet his former colleague, Shen, again at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, and while there, he was able to rehabilitate Tien, a student of Shen who was going down a wrong path, but like his master. It was also at this tournament that he retired the Jackie Chun persona leaving the rest to his students.
Soon after, he would die after trying to recreate the Evil Containment Wave at the return of King Piccolo. He failed to seal Piccolo and paid with his life. Thankfully, Goku was able to defeat Piccolo and bring Roshi back to life.
Master Roshi continued to watch as his students grew to become adults themselves with families and helped train their children in the way of Martial arts.
